A few weeks ago, Carolyn and I were having a conversation about the Cloth Diaper Retailer database (www.clothdiaperretailers.com) and just how awesome it is. Please don’t interpret this as us patting ourselves on the back–this site is awesome because companies give us access to their sales, so a lot of credit goes to them (as well as to Carolyn for her hard work maintaining it). But in our conversation, we talked about how although it is used by over a thousand readers on a monthly basis, many people still don’t get how awesome this is–or else scores of thousands MORE would be using it! I have a video HERE that walks you through how to use it, but Carolyn suggested that I provide you with a picture tutorial.

What’s so neat about this database is that you can find where to get the absolute BEST deal on a cloth diaper.*

You’ll see that there are a few columns to the database: retailer name, rating, brands, store features, state, and shipping. You’ll also see that there is a small search box. This is where you can search for brands, a particular retailer, a state, a sale (more on that in a second), trial programs, and more! There are small upside-down triangles next to each column, which means you can sort it by that category. For example, you can sort the retailers in alphabetical order, or click it again to get the list in reverse alphabetical order.

At the moment, there are over 250 retailers in this database, so don’t forget that you’ll have to click on the arrows to go to the next page on the database to see the other listings:

Find a Diaper By Brand

When I shop for cloth diapers, I am normally looking for a particular one. That is partly why I started this database, I got so frustrated with searching so many retailer sites, trying to find who has the best deal going on. Well now with this database, all you do is type in the brand you want and it shows you all the retailers carrying it and what deals they have going on. So let’s say I want to get a GroVia, I will type in “GroVia”, and see what comes up:

I now have a full list of who carries it and I can look in the “Store Features” tab to find sales, like military discounts, monthly discounts, PTS discounts, and more.

Find a Sale

You can also find all of this month’s sales. Just type in the month in the search engine and you can see the different deals that have been submitted by retailers. This isn’t ALL the deals out there, but we work very hard to get as many retailers to submit their sales as possible. You can find the sales listed at the very bottom of the “Store Features” column for each retailer.

Sometimes retailers also offer exclusive discounts for Padded Tush Stats followers. That’s why I always recommend going to the Cloth Diaper Retailer database, even if you KNOW what retailers you want to buy from. Just type in “EXCLUSIVE PTS DISCOUNT” in the search engine and you’ll see some great deals:

This site is also going to be great for you to find the Black Friday sales. In the month of November, as we get close to Black Friday, just type in “Black Friday” and you can see tons of deals! From what I saw last year, the Cloth Diaper Retailer database had the largest listing of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on cloth diapers.

Find a Reliable Retailer

Based on the hundreds of responses to the Cloth Diaper Retailer survey, we are able to provide you with statistics on how different retailers have performed. We even have badges on “highly rated” retailers, so you know that who you are getting the product from is someone recommended by PTS retailers. You can click on the triangle in the “rating” column to see who has the highest rating.

You can see a complete breakdown of their performance at the bottom of the “brands” column. They are scored on things like customer service, shipping speed, selection, and more.

Find a Diaper by Location

If you want to find what retailers sell in YOUR state, just type in the state. For example, I typed in “Minnesota” here:

Find What Retailers Offer Free Shipping

I’m one of those that won’t buy from anywhere unless shipping is free, so I love that I can see what everyone’s shipping policies are. Just type in “Free” and you can see the different retailers who offer free shipping on all orders, or orders with a certain amount. You’ll find that in the shipping column.

I hope this gives you guys a sense of just how much this database can help you find the best deal. I encourage you to tell your friends, share in forums, etc. So many people could save money by using this. Don’t forget that you can come here to see a HUGE listing on all of the Black Friday deals.
