The Bummis Original Wrap has recently gotten an updated design and I am so excited to be able to show it to you in this sneak peek. I will walk you through the features of the cover and will talk about how different people felt about the features based on their responses to the Diaper Features survey.
The outside is made out of PUL, which makes it waterproof. You can wipe down the inside of the cover and use it again with a different insert. PUL gets a very high rating at Padded Tush Stats (86%).
You secure the cover on the baby using the hook and loop closure (which is basically Velcro). Most people prefer snaps (85% as opposed to 45%), so that might be a possible downside for people (but according to Bummis, their Aplix is super durable compared with many on the market).
Note from the company: “People often don’t like H/L because it is not durable but they love its adjustability. With sized covers, you are using them for a shorter period of time than an all in one one size so H/L makes more sense, plus our H/L is the best available on market for purchase)”
The hook and loop tabs overlap, which helps you get a better fit on your baby. 74% of survey respondents like this feature in a cloth diaper.
The Aplix on the cover (for sizes small – large) is extra wide, which makes it easier to get the cover on as quickly as possible and to get a good fit.
The gussets are made out of lycra bindings, rather than elastic, which helps for a more gentle fit
The cover is sized, which means you can get a very small newborn size to fit a tiny baby (34% of survey respondents like sized diapers and 87% like one sized diapers)*

The inside of the cover is completely wipeable, a feature liked in cloth diapers by 57% of survey respondents.
The diaper is made in Canada and is only $9 (very cost effective choice)
To use the cover, simply trifold whatever prefold or flat you have and simply place in cover. Put the diaper on the baby. Once the diaper is soiled, then take out the insert, wipe down the inside, and replace with a new insert. Note from company: “This is a very trim diaper cover especially designed for prefolds, inserts and trim diapers (because of [the] trimness, [it] may not fit over [bulkier] diapers such as Goodmamas).”
You can see who carries this cover by going to www.clothdiaperretailers.
Bummis provided this cover for a sneak peek, but that did not affect any of the opinions in this post.
*These numbers do not add up to 100 because people were asked separately about each sizing option. Therefore, some respondents may like both sized and one size.
